Vancouver Lake algae health warning

VANCOUVER – The Health Department is warning people to stay out of Vancouver Lake, due to an algae bloom.

The blue-green algae bloom can contain toxins that can cause liver damage, irritate the skin, and even damage a person’s nervous system, health officials said.

The lake remains open but the recommendation is that children and animals, in particular, avoid having any contact with the water.
