PACS Data Storage: Medical Images Upload
There are three main processes in a PACS workflow, and image acquisition or upload is the first one. in this part, we are going to talk about medical images upload and how you can integrate this part of the workflow seamlessly.
A good PACS data storage solution enables you to stream medical images directly from the diagnostic tools to the storage server. This means you don’t have to manually upload medical images captured using the diagnostic tools once the system is integrated. Depending on the location of the server, proper networking may be necessary.
What about old medical images and x-ray films? Using a common imaging scanner, you can easily scan the old medical images and convert them to DICOM imaging format directly. These scanned medical images can now be uploaded directly to the storage server for further processing and storing.
Since PACS is designed to function as hardcopy replacement, medical images upload must also be as seamless as possible. If you have old medical images already stored in CDs, DVDs, or other digital storage – for example, if you are switching to a new medical image storage system and you want to transfer the stored images from old storage servers to the new ones – you can simply do a one-click batch upload.
