Chemist uncovers mechanism behind deadly anthrax, meningitis

A chemist from the University of Copenhagen has done what most renowned doctors could not do.

He has revealed the mechanism behind deadly infections like anthrax, septicemia and meningitis.

Till date, doctors lacked the basic insight to prevent and cure these diseases caused by the so-called Gram-positive bacteria.

However, Danish synthetic chemist Christian Marcus Pedersen has created a synthetic version of a Gram-bacterial endotoxin that is sure to explain the particular symptoms of these diseases.

Several politicians and notable figures are reaching out to remind people of the importance of National HIV Testing Day. President Obama looked back at his administration’s release of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy last year, but noted that the first step in eradicating the virus is knowledge. “One in five Americans living with HIV is not aware of their infection and this research highlights the imperative of making sure people know their HIV status and getting those who do have HIV into care,” he said in a statement Monday. Motorcycle tour to benefit Alzheimer’s project

Donations to help Alzheimer’s patients and their families are scheduled to be accepted Sunday as part of Daniel Jang’s cross-country motorcycle tour to raise awareness of the disease. Contributions will go to Project Lifesaver International, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that supplies wrist and ankle bracelets to Alzheimer’s patients so they can be tracked by law enforcement agencies. The bracelets are also used for autistic children. Jang, whose grandfather died of Alzheimer’s in February, is wearing a tracking device during his three-month trip. Jang plans to stop at Russell’s Blue Water Grill, 2450 PGA Blvd., from 3 to 7 p.m. For information, call (561) 847-7659.
